Like water through my hands

J,N & E --
It's Saturday again...time flies. Jake, you have just officially "graduated" from kindergarten. Which apparently is a huge accomplishment given the size and extent of the graduation program you guys performed!!!! When I was in kindergarten, we had the letter people and learned our shapes. You learned "a vowel followed by a consonant is short, code it with a breve". It's a brave new world.
I truly believe this to be true. I sometimes wonder if the world really is turning faster and moving faster than it used to (the way sand in an hour glass is so slow in the beginning and then all dumps out at the end..) I don't know it just seems that there is SO MUCH going on ALL THE TIME. I remember being a kid in elementary school--summertime was FOREVER. I mean literally, summer stretched out before you with these ridiculously lazy days where you said to your mother "I'm bored." I started thinking that I literally haven't been "bored" in a decade. The idea with a whole day (or heaven forbid two) with nothing to do, it seems like some sort of incredibly guilty pleasure. Something I am not sure I would be brave enough to do. And let me be upfront in saying, I do not keep our calendar particularly full compared to some people to begin with. But still it seems like there is so much going on....
I hope, that I am not missing the good stuff. I hope that I am catching enough of the little moments to truly make a difference in your world. I hope that you will have memories of me playing with you, and not just saying "just a minute". Sometimes, I feel like we live in a police state with me just walking around saying "No. No. Don't do that. Stop that." I hope that I am playing pirate cave under daddy's desk, and Star Wars enough. I know that these moments are slipping away--I can feel them like water through my hands. And, I know that you don't believe this right now, but I don't really want to do the dishes, or fold laundry or pick up toys (and I have help, and I don't have to work...really, I have no IDEA how some people do it all). I really do want to just sit and look at you and listen to you. I want to watch you breath. You are each incredible, awe inspiring creatures to me--each so uniquely and wonderfully made. I can't even believe that I got to have a part in that.
You have blessed my life beyond measure. You have made me into a better person because of your love. I adore each of your kissy little faces!
snugs and bugs my sweet potatoes,
mommy
