happy. happy.

We have a two year old in the house!!! What in the world? How did this happen? Un-Believable.

Sweet little Z-man, how has it happened that you have so quickly gotten to two?!? How is it possible that 730 days have passed since your birth? You, so tiny (by our Eudaly standards anyway)--struggling so hard to keep from popping more holes in your lungs. And now here you stand, race, fly, giggle, organize, laugh, tease, run. You, teaming with life. You are a monument to both the fragility and tenacity of life itself.

Zacky-boy, I am still figuring you out. Quick to smile, laugh and help, but your words are slow to come. Not that you lack in communication skills. Your deep, emphatic "MOM" is quite clear. But the rest of your words....well, there really aren't a lot of other words--you just have other methods of getting your wants/needs/point across. However, when I watch you and ask you questions and look you straight in the eye, I get the feeling that this lack of vocabulary is more a choice than a delay. I think you've just decided you aren't going to do it right now--perhaps a little passive aggressive--yeah, I'm not sure. I'm just trying to do my part by talking my head off to you and not worrying about it.

You are patient with your Big Sister. You are willing to go along with all her schemes. Even the ones that involve you wearing cheerleading skirts, dresses and hair bows. And should she have a meltdown, you are the first person to hunt down her blanket and baby, because you know how much she needs them. Amazingly tenderhearted.

You are teasing with your Big Brothers. The obvious back and forth/pull and push of brothers. Jake is like a third parent for you. If he is the closest person in a time of distress you will run to him for help. Knowing that he can put on shoes, get a drink or unclip your helmet--but also give snuggles and kisses if you are hurt. Nick is one of your favorite giggling friends. How you love to play in the tent in your room with him. Laughing again and again as he bursts in and out of view. Yet you are quick to tease him by frequently withholding hugs and kisses from him, and often it appears you are perfectly aware of the distress you are causing him.....brothers!!!

You, Bubby, are quite the little helper. Fastidious if I need to classify it. Not OCD exactly, but wow. Messes need to be cleaned up immediately--not by me or anyone else, you are more than happy to take care of it yourself. But your feeling appears to be that spills don't belong on the table or floor, bikes don't belong in the driveway if you aren't riding them, and dirty clothes don't belong on the floor. Clearly, you did not get this from me. I'm just sayin'.

You. Remarkable. Marvelous. Wonderful. You.
You have changed our lives in ways you cannot imagine. You filled in a hole we didn't know was there. You have brought unspeakable joy into our lives. Your breath every single day is a testament to Our God in Heaven.
I lack the words to describe the depth and width and breadth of your love for you.
Happy. Happy. My little love.
