Good Friday

I was hoping to have something really profound and life-changing to say about yesterday, which was Good Friday. Because really, if we believe that Christ died for us, shouldn't our commemoration of his death on the cross be one of the most profound days we remember? Unfortunately, I am more of a "live in the moment" sort of girl, so rather than pondering something of such great importance, we made Easter treats.
We made lots of sweet treats. The project was intended for the boys, but really it was as much for the adult "girls" as anybody else. Because I will let my boys make themselves treats...but I just can't, at this point, stomach the thought of actually ingesting anything that they put together. Little boy hands are busy...literally one of my sons washed his hands for our project, walked out of the restroom and immediately picked up a basketball (and he was distressed when we made him turn around and wash his hands again). So really, any treats that the adults wanted to eat had to be made ourselves...really if you had seen how they were playing with the sprinkles while they were waiting you would understand.

So they decorated and then they ate....

And we decorated and we laughed, as good friends, with young children, are apt to do.

We ate some more....

Some people got very into their cake-pop decorating. I won't name names.

Apparently, there is an art form to cake-pop decorating which may take years to properly apply.

But this, this is just wrong. Either eat the whole thing, or none at all, but to just nibble and end that is so wrong.

And this guy, he looks like either a festive Frosty the Snowman, or a Frenchman with a very pretty beret.
Either way, he's worried that he's next....

Little days of grace...

Ok, so I've told you before, I'm really good at planning...not great on the follow through. But, I'm trying, I'm really trying. My new "plan" is about organizing and efficiency, two things that have escaped me for many a year now. So, I have been getting out of bed at 5 in the morning. Granted, it's only day 7, but so far so good...ask me again in a couple of weeks. But the awesome thing about getting up so early is that I feel like I can actually get some stuff done before the house wakes up--which is helpful, because it leaves more time for the fun stuff during the day...and besides being completely done in by about 9PM, I think it is making me a little less stressed out about the days.

And today was a good day. I have been waking everyone up in the morning so we can have breakfast together, which is great. Jake gave us a "rehearsal" version of his Curious George book report. We built ships and tents. Nick and Daryn had a little afternoon adventure. We went to Daryn's office for awhile and then off the library. It is so exciting to me to watch a love of reading developing in sweet Jake...there was a pile of books at the on the floor by his bed as he drifted off to sleep.

I love these little days of grace. Smiles and giggles and snippets of sunshine. They are passing, they are passing, these little babies of mine.
