So Behind!

Holy Guacamole, Batman! It's been a long time since the last blog. We literally travelled across the country twice (well, UP the country once, I'm a geography teacher now...) since I managed to blog the last time.

We took Mom & Dad to Gulf Shores for their 40th! My oldest kid turned 10! (Cah-razy that we're old enough to have a 10 year old.) My mom and I took 4 kids and drove 3000 miles round trip...I know. It leaves you speechless.

Here we are in Gulf Shores--attempting a family shot. Really. What are we all looking at? Seriously, all the pictures are some variation of us NOT all looking at the camera.

Proof that it WAS just Mom & me with all the kids--here we are waiting to see the Horseshoe Falls at Niagra...

I have fallen so horrifically behind on blogging it's ridiculous. I wish I had some really fantastic excuse, like I've lost the use of my fingers, or we have no internet access or something, but now it's pretty much just lazy. Well, I'd like to say "busy", but I think that could also just be a convenient excuse for lazy.

We are starting our fifth month of homeschooling. I still can't believe we are doing it. People have been asking me how it's going and I'm not sure how to answer. I ADORE having the kids home. I LOVE our much simpler routine. I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA if we are staying on track. I mean, we are moving forward in our curriculum, so surely we are learning something. And our "completed" work folders are super full--so we are obviously doing SOMETHING. But still I wonder, you know, if they will honestly be able to add and subtract or will still be counting fingers on their noses into adulthood (well, only one of them does that).

Truly, I just want to say that Big D and I were way to cool to be homeschoolers when we got married. Seriously, I never thought we would have four kids and be "those people". You know the ones you look like the circus has come to town. But nevertheless, we are "those people" and as of yet I can't decide which kid to trade in, so I guess we'll stick with it. (I jest. I jest. We totally know who we'd trade in. Right. Really. Just. Kidding.)

Anyway, here's hoping that I get better at my consistency during the holiday season. Because, as the saying goes...hope springs eternal.
