Don't Bite.

Jakey, NickyBoBo and Sister,
It's a Saturday here at the Eudaly house. Pretty typical as of late, trying to get all the "stuff" done that needs to be done, trying to have fun, trying to manage the chaos. As a friend of mine once said we are "spinning". You boys are upstairs playing Star Wars...sharing, arguing, laughing, bickering, playing, annoying each other...it is the constant sound of our home--laughter that dissolves into tears and tears that melt into giggles. You are in the process of learning how to share--it is a continual process (don't let me burst your bubble, but it NEVER stops). Somtimes I witness the most precious moments, like the day Jake that you came down the stairs in tears because Nick wanted a toy that you were playing with--and you gave it to him, and it made you so sad to give it up. Sometimes I witness true human nature where the desire to take is met by the desire to conquer, and the next thing I know you are both yelling (or crying)--someone has gotten hit, pushed, bitten, and my voice is continually going up in decibels trying to negotiate a peace treaty.
As adults we fake sharing better...we can go through the motions and play nice. But truthfully we are still the same fallen beings we have been since the beginning of time. When we don't view something as being truly significant, it is easy to share. When something means a lot to us, or when we view someone as taking advantage of us, the sharing is much harder to do. Part of growing up is learning how to do this, without biting.
If I can give you any advice it is to be patient with one another. Share generously. Show each other continuous grace and mercy. Don't bite. Be better than me at this.
