Generation

Yesterday was a good day. Filled to the brim with family and love and fun (and food). Easter is a big holiday, as all holidays in this family are. All we need is a reason to celebrate.

We ate breakfast, hunted eggs, built legos AND had time to squeeze in getting pictures of the punks. The sense of accomplishment may go straight to my head. And I actually got MORE than one picture with all three bugs looking at me at the same time....monumental.

We had lunch then went to Gran's for the EGG HUNT. This was the first year that it finally happened. Two adults left in the hunt. The last of the Mohicans, and even they are on their way out to make room for Baby due in Septmeber. It is interesting to watch the passing of this gauntlet. Before married life I had never experienced an egg hunt like this before. HUNDREDS of eggs, filled with money--and more money passed out for prizes. Year One I just stood and watched--the spectacle of all these grown people digging under bushes and running flat out for Easter Eggs. Truthfully, I never stood a chances. There was too many years of history and tradition, knowledge of the good hiding places. It was good for me when Jake was old enough to hunt--I was helpful in pulling up his numbers. Daryn declared that this year he would not be digging through the bushes. In fact he didn't even bring a change of clothes. Emily, however, managed to collect 35 eggs...her first year of the hunt, not bad when Daddy helps you. Jake won the Children's division of the hunt, I think somewhere around 47 eggs....a tradition passed down. Generation to generation.
