You are my whirling dervish, my cyclone, my monkey, my smiley boy. You exhaust, intrigue, and beguile me. More often than not you are a swirling mass of movement and questions. Literally I had no idea that you had so many words to say. I assumed that since Jake was such a talker that you would be quieter, letting him fill in the silences. But in an odd twist of fate you have as many words, if not more words to say than Jake.
Three years old is so much fun, your brain is constantly going, going, going. And, as well as your constant companion, I am also the source of information--which you are in constant need of.
Friday, we went to the doctor's office to get a vaccination. We also had some other errands to run in Fort Worth. And really, it's my fault, I didn't time things very well. So by the time we were driving back to Grapevine, Emily was marginally fussy, I was really tired, we were all hungry, and you had a burning list of questions.
Nick: "Can you read the back of that truck?"
Mommy: "Which truck?" (there were only five trucks in front of us at the time)
N: "That truck"
M: "Truck makes wide turns."
N: "Why didn't you say trailer?"
M: "What do you mean?"
M: "What do you mean?"
N: "Why didn't you say trailer?"
M: "Trailer."
N: "Mommy! Say trailer, alright?!"
M: "Truck makes wide turns. Trailer"
N: "What is that pruple truck"
M: "It carries glass."
N: "Is there mud in it?"
M: "No."
N: "Is there dirt"
M: "No."
N: "Do they have wine glasses?" (it's a long story...)
N: "Mommy, where's my bandaid?" (from the vaccine)
M: "On your leg."
N: "Where's Emily's bandaid?"
M: "Emily doesn't have a bandaid."
N: "Where are they?"
M: "She doesn't have one."
N: "Yes she did."
M: "Well, I guess she has, but that was a long time ago, I am sure they are in the trash."
N: "In the trash?"
M: "Yes."
M: "Emily doesn't have a bandaid."
N: "Where are they?"
M: "She doesn't have one."
N: "Yes she did."
M: "Well, I guess she has, but that was a long time ago, I am sure they are in the trash."
N: "In the trash?"
M: "Yes."
N: "MOMMY! Focus on that!"
Really? This is just like any average day and the thirty second exchange that takes place. But seriously, the drive from Fort Worth to Grapevine is somewhere around thirty-five minutes. Do you know how many questions can be asked in thirty-five minutes. Hopefully, each day that goes by I will remember to treasure these little exchanges that go by. Because eventually, you won't have as many questions to ask me, and you will be figuring out the answers on your own. So ask me your quesions Nick. And I PROMISE you, I will focus on that!
I love you boogie,
Mommy

Dear sweet amy!
Oh how I loved to get to see my 3 favorite kids! I am so blessed to have them in my life and know them. I went home telling clifton that Nick said he was "free" not "free and a half." What a doll. He wanted to hold my hand going up the stairs so we wouldnt fall and that Emily cant go up the stairs. Jake is so awesome. He has grown up so fast but I love how loyal he is STILL to Starwars. He's so sweet to say hope you have your baby soon. He knows the right thing to say to a girl! And sweet beautiful Emily! I look forward so very much to our two girls getting to know each other. How fun will that be! I am blessed to have you as my friend Amy!
I hope to be as great a mom as you are! Sarah Morris :)
